Its been a while since I updated and theres a lot to cover, so just gonna jump right into things here
NEWS FLASH FOR THE SOULS FANS - NEW VIDEO OF PROJECT BEAST LEAKED via NeoGAF - HYPE LEVELS OFF THE CHARTS!!! Click this thing now!!
...Holy shit, right? Thanks to @RichStanton and @EddieInzauto for the tipoff!

Okay, on with the show.
Super TIME Force (XBO, 360, PC): About halfway through this one from one of my favorite developers, Capy Games. Ive been a fan of these guys ever since Critter Crunch (rainbow puke for LYFE, yo) and they have yet to disappoint me. If theres a more consistent, reliable developer out there, Id love to know who it is.

The writing is hilarious, theres a lot of really clever, interesting design going on, and the graphics are stylized pixel art, which I think looks great. It takes a little bit of time to wrap your head around the rewind mechanic, but once you click into it, its a much deeper, more sophisticated game than it first appears.
Drakengard 3 (PSN): There are no words in human language that can fully encapsulate how disappointing and terrible this game is. I was not a fan of the previous two in the Drakengard series, but I am absolutely in love with Nier, and knowing that D3 was from the same developers was all that was needed to pique my curiosity. Unfortunately, while there are a few moments where hints of a Nier-like flavor comes through, this game is generally terrible in all aspects.

Technically, its a steaming pile with muddy PS2-era graphics, a framerate that chugs harder than a desperate frat boy eager to impress, super-basic camera problems, Hell, you name it, and its bad.
The actual gameplay is miserable as well, coming off like a poor-mans Dynasty Warriors that soon turns repetitive and intolerable. I have no idea why Square bothered to bring this to America other than the fact that they knew Nier fans like myself would jump at the chance to get another piece of work from that same team, but these two projects couldnt be further apart. Avoid it all costs.
Of Orcs And Men (XBL,PSN,PC): Finished it last week. Ironically, although it has technical problems the way that Drakengard does (although nowhere near as severe) the writing is light-years better and the super-appealing character work holds together. Fans of story in games, take note.

It was a great adventure on a small-scale, and my reviews coming soon. Big thumbs UP.
Mind Zero (Vita): I heard nothing but bad things about this one from people who had played the Japanese version, or people who "just knew" somehow, but after watching videos on YouTube, I was convinced that I needed to give it a try, and Im glad that I did.

The biggest, most interesting thing about it is the combat system. Its a little more complicated than I want to get into right now, but basically people can have their "MIND" (basically a persona-like spirit) turn on or off at will, and there are positives and negatives to being in either mode. The game also has a few interesting spins during combat, mostly in the way it manages three different resources that fuel abilities. It doesnt feel at all like the combat in Persona although it may appear similar on the surface, and I definitely appreciate what its got going on.
At the moment, my characters are trying to figure out whats going on with their world, having recently discovered a spirit realm that is somehow connected, in addition to a vaguely Team Rocket-ish squad of MIND users who are gonna end up being The Bad Guys . The story isnt mind blowing but its definitely good enough to keep the action going so far, and the art style is solid.
Ive enjoyed my time with it so far and Im still pushing onwards despite the dungeons being a little too long and the encounter rate being a little too high. Hopefully this wont turn into a big problem.
Destiny Of Spirits (Vita): I havent talked much about this free-to-play from Sony but Ive been chipping away at it for about a half an hour every day before bed, and although its really low-rent and kind of boring, there is a certain charm to it.

Its not really that this game is that good in any one aspect, but the elements come together to create an experience thats satisfying for a few minutes at a time, although I can see many places where the developers can improve. Specifically, Im getting to a point in the game where the enemies are of a much higher level than I am, and I cant level up the characters that I have. Without access to better characters through random summons or buying them, it seems as though Im going to hit a wall of difficulty that I wont be able to get past, but well see.
If nothing else, I hope the developers take this template and make a more polished sequel that addresses some of my issues.
Movies: The wife and I went to go see Captain America: The Winter Soldier the other day, and I have to say that all of the hype surrounding it was definitely justified.

The performances were strong, the story was actually much deeper and more interesting than I expected, and action sequences were fantastic. Also: The Falcon is cool as hell in that film. We enjoyed it from start to finish, and it comes totally recommend it if you havent seen it already. After so many years of crappy comic book movies, its amazing to get so many that are of such a quality lately.

Summary of Properties of the MAC Layer in Safety Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
Summary of Properties of the MAC Layer in Safety Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
VANET comprise two kinds of communication, one between two vehicles (V2V) and another between a vehicle and a road side unit (RSU) (V2I). The 5.9 GHZ band is already reserved for VANET communications in both United States and Europe. One of the challenging issue on designing actual VANET is providing adequate MAC protocol. Popular wireless local area network medium access control protocol, IEEE 802.11, is selected because of availability, maturity, and cost consideration as an standard for MAC layer in VANETs.
The spectrum in VANETs divided into multiple 10MHz wide channel so that one channel, Control CHannel (CCH), is reserved for sending safety messages and it can only be used by road safety applications. The rest of the channels that is called Service CHannels (SCH) can be used by different applications such as safety and non-safety applications (focused for example on traffic efficiency or passenger entertainment). This differentiation in channel usage is another issue that has not addressed by IEEE 802.11 because it assumes to have just one type of application.
IEEE 802.11p, an amendment to the IEEE802.11, can only work on a single channel like its original version. The Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) architecture contains another standard, IEEE 1609.4, to handle some issues like channel switching and per-packet channel routing. MAC sub-layer is divided into two parts, the upper part is defined by IEEE 1609.4 and the lower part is defined by IEEE 802.11p.
Most of the points in this paper are covered by "A Tutorial Survey on Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks" that are related to addressing the problems of beaconing (it is proved that the communication in control channel in VANETs is more than simple broadcasting) in CCH and its consecutive effects on network throughput.
Non-safety application that are mostly IP-based, still using TCP/IP protocol stack but safety applications can not use TCP/IP architecture because of some reasons are summarized as follow:
In VANET, sending a message in control channel can be causes by two reasons, to announce cars status and unexpected hazard. This information are likely interesting for all the surrounding neighbours. this issues appears the necessity of broadcast communication in control channel. In order to announce these events, VANET generates two types of message, CAM and DEN. DEN is just transmitted by happening an unexpected hazard and CAM is periodically transmitted to improve road safety. The DEN messages is just transmitted if there is a long time until the next CAM message, otherwise it can be merged with the CAM message.
Despite broadcast nature of control channel as already mention, previous designed MAC protocols for different networks such as MANETs or sensor networks that are designed with the idea of unicast communication in mind are analyzed and is showed that cannot be used directly.
Although IEEE 802.11DCF can manage both unicast and broadcast communication, it cannot be able to use regular schemes in unicast communication like ACK packets and RTS/CTS in the broadcast mode. This inability causes that this popular standard cannot be able to detect the collision and alleviate the hidden nodes problem, respectively. It is obvious that it is not sufficient enough for communication in control channel and needs to more revision based on the characteristics of VANETs. It needs to be mentioned that while the hidden terminals problem is problematic, exposed terminal does not appear because in the transmission zone all the nodes, including those trying to access the channel are interested by the safety messages.
As a result of lack of collision detection ability in control channel, the IEEE 802.11 DCF mechanism for adapting the back-off time with traffic density cannot work properly and the contention window remains minimum. This problem causes more collisions and reduces the beacon reception probability. Therefore, finding an optimal minimum contention window is a challenging issue that has a large impact on the reception ratio.
One important point that makes different beaconing in VANETs from regular broadcasting is the limited lifetime of safety messages. It means that if each safety message can not be transmitted in predefined time period, it must be dropped and the updated one will be send indeed. It also shows that the delay for safety messages is bounded by the beacons lifetime, therefore measuring average delay becomes less significant.
Moreover, beacons in VANETs has an important role while in MANETs they are assumed as an overhead and is tried to be minimised in order to improve the network efficiency. Although, beacons are still assumed as control messages, they provide valuable information and decreasing the amount of them leads to a reduction in the efficiency of safety-applications.
Data rate adaptation has been proposed as a solution for congestion control in VANET. Using higher data rate decreases channel occupancy that allowing more transmissions to take place. But, with increase in the data rate, higher SIR is needed at the receiver side that shows limitations in data rate adaptation. (?)
Distinguishing between collision and lost packets in consequence of noisy channel. (?)
Information about DEN messages are mostly neglected.
Non-safety application that are mostly IP-based, still using TCP/IP protocol stack but safety applications can not use TCP/IP architecture because of some reasons are summarized as follow:
- IPv6 introduces high overhead for safety message can not be tolerated by the applications.
- Different safety applications need the same information. Therefore, it is required to send a large number of messages with the same content can lead to a congested channel.

Streets of Rage 2
Streets of Rage 2

Streets of Rage 2 was released in 1992 by SEGA for the Sega Megadrive. There is also Streets of Rage 1 & 3 but 2 is better than both of them put together. You can select from four characters, Max, Axel, Blaze and Skate. Ill select Blaze. Funny enough these characters were long forgotten in time and we havent seen them since, well in any up to date remakes or any spin-off games. I am surprised they didnt appear in the Project X Zone series.

The game is a beat em up arcade game. The level that you start on has like sex shops galore? Strip bars? Something seedy. And Rin Rin? Anyway the main focus is to get through the level. There are two special attacks that drain your life. But Blaze can do a special move that does not drain any life. Its Down, Right, Down Right and Punch.

You got people coming at you with knifes and steel bars. Talk about dangerous. But no blood spills. Im not sure about the Japanese release? Maybe not.

The first boss is Jack. He throws knifes and...his attack set is to stab you to death. You probably wonder why gaming companies sprites look so great? Well they draw the character animation first on paper, then scan it and finally they sprite over it. I wish I could make sprites that advanced but, Im okay really I am.

If you search around the level carefully by breaking tables, boxes and other stuff you can find cakes which will heal your HP. You can also obtain cash and that boosts your final score.

When you get to the bar there will be a woman drinking and a bar tender serving drinks?

Suddenly the woman will strip her clothes and take out a whip. You know if I ever thought of trying to make a fighting game a whip is one of the main items that I would use. A whip is sexy and dangerous. Anyway the blonde bimbos name is Electra. Im so going to kick her butt and rip her hair out while I am at it.

She was quite easy to say the least. Her whip had a special electrical ability, but she was no match for me.

And one you go to the back of the bar, the bar tender will be waiting. Seems he runs some kind of gang. You know there are a lot of shady people like this in real life, who live double lives and some of them are real nasty sons o bitches. And what does it all come down to? Drug money...and Im guessing drugs play some sort of role in this game franchise. Its just its too 2D so they wouldnt input it in the game. What else do thugs do on the streets? Drugs, duh! People who live on drugs, I feel for them really I do....from afar. But its their choice, and it only ends in tears. Weve got enough to worry about, than drugs. Like actual real sickness and injury, those few people would rather mess up their brain by choice. But no, theyd rather sell the stuff and mess up other peoples minds. I would say we need to get rid of drugs period, but some people need them. Drugs can also...ease pain and like alcohol make you forget.

Im just going to rush in there. He needs all of those men to gang up just for a WOMAN? How stupid is that. Maybe he knows she is sure to destroy him so he really needed the back-up. I killed them. Because thats what happens in this game you KILL.

First i throw him to the other side then attack him. He has yet to kill me and I wont let him.

And so I finished him off with a punch. What a total loser, if only you could do this in real life to people who get on your nerves.

And so the game adds up the score to the top which leaves me with 67560. You lose it all if you die. The main aim of the game is to stay alive. You get a certain amount of continues too. Since I figured out Blazes other special move the game became easier. I used to play this game many, many years ago and I always died.
The music in the game was made by Yuzo Koshiro. There are some really funky beats featured in the game, so retro...so 90s.
There was also going to be an up to date version for the Dreamcast but SEGA decided to scrap the idea, which is a shame because then the series just died off. You know...people would be shocked if they saw the series get a reboot. Theyd probably think WOW, memories. But the game would have to resemble the older makes. And let me say this one last time...Streets of Rage 2 was the BEST. Why? Ill explain, in 1 and 3 the camera is zoomed TOO far out. But in 2 the camera is just right...you know like Goldilocks & The Three Bears, just right.
According to information Fighting Force was originally going to be the new Streets of Rage at the time. SEGA struck a deal with Core, best known for the Tomb Raider franchise at the time. Streets of Rage 4 was to be published by SEGA exclusively for the Sega Saturn. Sega pulled the Streets of Rage name during development after a disagreement with Core about porting it to rival formats. As you know SEGA had a major problem with Sony and Nintendo back in the day, which has vanished into thin air in todays world but back then it was an all out ******* war!!!
SEGA had their legal team shut down a well known fan-made project in 2011. But you can still obtain the game if you are desperate. The game had been worked on for 8 years and it was super advanced, even better than the actual game. The Streets of Rage Remake project, released for free on PC mashed all three beat em ups into one monstrous hybrid fan-game. The final project contains over 100 stages, 19 playable pugilists, 64 enemies and a full 76-song soundtrack remixed by five different musicians. But just days after the file was released on various download and torrent sites around the web, SEGA stamped down on its release and is trying to get the game pulled. Their first port of call was Links own downloads on the games forum.
"SEGA have contacted [me] regarding the download hosted on this site," Link writes. "While this issue is being resolved, please do not upload the game for others to download. Any links posted on this site will be removed."
According to a spokesperson from SEGA "SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do so by involving them in Beta tests and other development, marketing or research opportunities. However we need to protect our intellectual property rights and this may result in us requesting that our fans remove online imagery, videos or games in some instances."
Then after SEGA acted upon the fan-made game they re-released Streets of Rage 2 for the Nintendo eShop entitled 3D Streets of Rage 2. So yeah, SEGA can be like Nintendo and can mess up your fan-made project if they want too. Its best to be original make your own game with your own original characters. Fan-made games always go pear shaped in the end. Even if you are trying to make something to HONOR something you like. Anyway there is some new December news, there is going to be a BRAND NEW Streets of Rage film. And if that goes well we might see the franchise get a reboot. If it flops itll end up like Jem & the Holograms. You know a closed door, never to be opened again?

Suikoden The Woven Web of a Century
Suikoden The Woven Web of a Century

Both of the heros parents are deceased and he is a swordsman from the village of Terube. Jino, his hotheaded childhood friend made the journey through time too. When Myra, Jinos older sister, isnt scolding him, shes the groups magician. Dukas is a loyal soldier and another one of the games main characters.
Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century begins with the heroes time-traveling to the past so they can learn how to fight from their ancestors. Its a plot device and also a gameplay mechanic. Konami created a teacher-student relationship system where abilities are actually passed down to characters.
The young heroes from the future have learn battle commands when veteran heroes from the past use them in battle. Each time an an ability is used it raises a skills training rate and when it reaches 100% you can use the move in battle.

You can further customize characters using the games sub job system. At a dinner event in your games base you can pick up sub jobs these let you change equipment profiles like giving a mage a bow, for example.
Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century has a number of classes like swordsman, magician, lancer, archer, martial artist, ninja, bard, and chemist. The game also has a crafting system where you can create weapons, healing items, and magic stones.
Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century has six person battles with three characters in the front row and three in back. Konamis next Suikoden game goes on sale on February 9 for PSP in Japan and has multiple endings for fans to find.
