Streets of Rage 2

Streets of Rage 2

Streets of Rage 2 was released in 1992 by SEGA for the Sega Megadrive. There is also Streets of Rage 1 & 3 but 2 is better than both of them put together. You can select from four characters, Max, Axel, Blaze and Skate. Ill select Blaze. Funny enough these characters were long forgotten in time and we havent seen them since, well in any up to date remakes or any spin-off games. I am surprised they didnt appear in the Project X Zone series.

The game is a beat em up arcade game. The level that you start on has like sex shops galore? Strip bars? Something seedy. And Rin Rin? Anyway the main focus is to get through the level. There are two special attacks that drain your life. But Blaze can do a special move that does not drain any life. Its Down, Right, Down Right and Punch.

You got people coming at you with knifes and steel bars. Talk about dangerous. But no blood spills. Im not sure about the Japanese release? Maybe not.

The first boss is Jack. He throws knifes and...his attack set is to stab you to death. You probably wonder why gaming companies sprites look so great? Well they draw the character animation first on paper, then scan it and finally they sprite over it. I wish I could make sprites that advanced but, Im okay really I am.

If you search around the level carefully by breaking tables, boxes and other stuff you can find cakes which will heal your HP. You can also obtain cash and that boosts your final score.

When you get to the bar there will be a woman drinking and a bar tender serving drinks?

Suddenly the woman will strip her clothes and take out a whip. You know if I ever thought of trying to make a fighting game a whip is one of the main items that I would use. A whip is sexy and dangerous. Anyway the blonde bimbos name is Electra. Im so going to kick her butt and rip her hair out while I am at it.

She was quite easy to say the least. Her whip had a special electrical ability, but she was no match for me.

And one you go to the back of the bar, the bar tender will be waiting. Seems he runs some kind of gang. You know there are a lot of shady people like this in real life, who live double lives and some of them are real nasty sons o bitches. And what does it all come down to? Drug money...and Im guessing drugs play some sort of role in this game franchise. Its just its too 2D so they wouldnt input it in the game. What else do thugs do on the streets? Drugs, duh! People who live on drugs, I feel for them really I do....from afar. But its their choice, and it only ends in tears. Weve got enough to worry about, than drugs. Like actual real sickness and injury, those few people would rather mess up their brain by choice. But no, theyd rather sell the stuff and mess up other peoples minds. I would say we need to get rid of drugs period, but some people need them. Drugs can also...ease pain and like alcohol make you forget.

Im just going to rush in there. He needs all of those men to gang up just for a WOMAN? How stupid is that. Maybe he knows she is sure to destroy him so he really needed the back-up. I killed them. Because thats what happens in this game you KILL.

First i throw him to the other side then attack him. He has yet to kill me and I wont let him.

And so I finished him off with a punch. What a total loser, if only you could do this in real life to people who get on your nerves.

And so the game adds up the score to the top which leaves me with 67560. You lose it all if you die. The main aim of the game is to stay alive. You get a certain amount of continues too. Since I figured out Blazes other special move the game became easier. I used to play this game many, many years ago and I always died.

The music in the game was made by Yuzo Koshiro. There are some really funky beats featured in the game, so retro...so 90s.

There was also going to be an up to date version for the Dreamcast but SEGA decided to scrap the idea, which is a shame because then the series just died off. You know...people would be shocked if they saw the series get a reboot. Theyd probably think WOW, memories. But the game would have to resemble the older makes. And let me say this one last time...Streets of Rage 2 was the BEST. Why? Ill explain, in 1 and 3 the camera is zoomed TOO far out. But in 2 the camera is just right...you know like Goldilocks & The Three Bears, just right.

According to information Fighting Force was originally going to be the new Streets of Rage at the time. SEGA struck a deal with Core, best known for the Tomb Raider franchise at the time. Streets of Rage 4 was to be published by SEGA exclusively for the Sega Saturn. Sega pulled the Streets of Rage name during development after a disagreement with Core about porting it to rival formats. As you know SEGA had a major problem with Sony and Nintendo back in the day, which has vanished into thin air in todays world but back then it was an all out ******* war!!!

SEGA had their legal team shut down a well known fan-made project in 2011. But you can still obtain the game if you are desperate. The game had been worked on for 8 years and it was super advanced, even better than the actual game. The Streets of Rage Remake project, released for free on PC mashed all three beat em ups into one monstrous hybrid fan-game. The final project contains over 100 stages, 19 playable pugilists, 64 enemies and a full 76-song soundtrack remixed by five different musicians. But just days after the file was released on various download and torrent sites around the web, SEGA stamped down on its release and is trying to get the game pulled. Their first port of call was Links own downloads on the games forum.

"SEGA have contacted [me] regarding the download hosted on this site," Link writes. "While this issue is being resolved, please do not upload the game for others to download. Any links posted on this site will be removed."

According to a spokesperson from SEGA "SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do so by involving them in Beta tests and other development, marketing or research opportunities. However we need to protect our intellectual property rights and this may result in us requesting that our fans remove online imagery, videos or games in some instances."

Then after SEGA acted upon the fan-made game they re-released Streets of Rage 2 for the Nintendo eShop entitled 3D Streets of Rage 2. So yeah, SEGA can be like Nintendo and can mess up your fan-made project if they want too. Its best to be original make your own game with your own original characters. Fan-made games always go pear shaped in the end. Even if you are trying to make something to HONOR something you like. Anyway there is some new December news, there is going to be a BRAND NEW Streets of Rage film. And if that goes well we might see the franchise get a reboot. If it flops itll end up like Jem & the Holograms. You know a closed door, never to be opened again?
